DiaPS Presented at ATTD 2026 in Barcelona

The DiaPS – Diabetes Digital Peer Support initiative was presented at one of the world’s leading conferences dedicated to diabetes and technology — ATTD (Advanced Technologies & Treatments for Diabetes), held in Barcelona from 11 to 14 March 2026.

ATTD is a globally recognised scientific conference that brings together physicians, researchers, technology companies, and health professionals from over 80 countries. The event focuses on the latest advancements in diabetes care, including innovations in continuous glucose monitoring, digital health, artificial intelligence, and new treatment approaches.

Presenting DiaPS to a Global Audience

At the conference, Ines Jakopanec presented the DiaPS initiative, a digital solution designed to support people living with Type 1 diabetes, with a particular focus on athletes and physically active individuals.

The presentation highlighted how DiaPS builds on the foundations of the Sports & Diabetes initiative, which resulted in a widely used guidebook translated into multiple languages and shared across Europe. However, one of the most valuable outcomes of that project was not only the educational content but the community that naturally formed around it.

Participants consistently pointed out that connecting with others who share similar experiences of living and training with diabetes plays a crucial role in building confidence and long-term engagement in sport.

This insight became the starting point for DiaPS.

From Knowledge to Community

The DiaPS platform is being developed to make this sense of connection accessible to a wider audience. It aims to create a space where users can:

  • connect with athletes, families, and experts
  • access reliable and practical educational content
  • share real-life experiences within a supportive community
  • find guidance on managing diabetes while staying active

A key message of the presentation was clear:
peer support and lived experience are just as important as clinical knowledge.

Connecting Sport, Technology, and Health

Presenting DiaPS at ATTD opened the door to valuable discussions with experts across medical, technological, and sports sectors. It also created opportunities for future collaboration and further development of the platform.

By bringing together sport, digital innovation, and community support, DiaPS aims to empower people living with diabetes to feel more confident, informed, and connected in their everyday lives.
