DiaPS – Diabetes Digital Peer S(up)port

Sports & Diabetes – Tackling Diabetes with Sport

Erasmus+ Sport collaborative project that is co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

DiaPS project presented at the International Scientific Conference on Kinesiology

As part of the ongoing dissemination activities of the DiaPS – Diabetes and Sport Peer Support project, the project was also connected to the academic and scientific community through participation in the International Scientific Conference on Kinesiology organised by the Faculty of Kinesiology, University of Zagreb.

During the conference, Dr. Felice Strollo, Italian endocrinologist and researcher in the field of diabetes and sport, participated as an invited lecturer thanks to the initiative and coordination of Maja Horvatin from the Faculty of Kinesiology.

Connecting science, sport, and diabetes

The conference gathered experts from various scientific and sports disciplines, creating an important platform for discussions about physical activity, health, and innovation in sport. Within this environment, the topics related to diabetes, movement, and participation in sport gained additional visibility.

Felice Strollo’s participation contributed to strengthening the connection between the DiaPS project and the broader scientific community, while also highlighting the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration when addressing the challenges people living with diabetes face in sport and physical activity.

Building bridges between research and real-life experience

One of the core ideas behind the DiaPS project is combining scientific knowledge with practical, everyday experiences of people living with diabetes. Events such as the International Scientific Conference on Kinesiology provide valuable opportunities to connect healthcare professionals, researchers, sports experts, and community initiatives around shared goals.

The discussions during the conference reinforced the importance of accessible education, peer support, and encouraging active lifestyles for people living with diabetes.

Expanding the DiaPS network

Participation in academic and scientific events remains an important part of the DiaPS dissemination strategy. Through collaborations with universities, researchers, healthcare professionals, and sports organisations, the project continues to expand its network and raise awareness about the role of sport and peer support in diabetes management.
