DiaEuroCro Team Completes Preparations and Educational Workshop Ahead of DiaEuro 2025
As preparations for DiaEuro 2025 continue, members of the DiaEuroCro team gathered in Đakovo, Croatia, for a weekend of training, education, and team building ahead of the tournament in Bulgaria.
The event combined competitive football preparation with diabetes education, reflecting the core values shared by the DiaPS – Diabetes and Sport Peer Support project: promoting active lifestyles, empowering people living with diabetes, and creating supportive sporting environments.
Preparing for the European tournament
During the training camp, the team played two friendly matches against strong opponents, providing an excellent opportunity to improve tactical preparation, strengthen team spirit, and build confidence before the upcoming international competition.
The gathering also reinforced the importance of teamwork and peer support—both on and off the pitch.
The DiaEuroCro team expressed its gratitude to head coach Domagoj Vragolović for his leadership and commitment, as well as to the Slatki život Đakovo Association for their warm hospitality and excellent organisation of the event.
Education and the latest diabetes technologies
Alongside the sporting activities, participants attended an educational session organised with the support of Medilab ONE, where they were introduced to the latest technologies for diabetes management.
The session included presentations of the Dexcom ONE+ continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system and the Omnipod DASH insulin pump, highlighting how modern diabetes technologies can help athletes manage their condition safely while maintaining high levels of performance.
Combining practical education with sport demonstrates the importance of providing people living with diabetes not only with opportunities to compete but also with the knowledge and tools that support safe participation in physical activity.
Living proof that diabetes is not a barrier to sport
The gathering in Đakovo once again demonstrated that, with the right preparation, education, and support, people living with diabetes can successfully participate in competitive sport.
Initiatives such as DiaEuroCro continue to inspire athletes, promote healthy lifestyles, and reinforce the message at the heart of the DiaPS project: diabetes should never be a barrier to sport, teamwork, or achieving personal goals.
