DiaPS – Diabetes Digital Peer S(up)port

Sports & Diabetes – Tackling Diabetes with Sport

Erasmus+ Sport collaborative project that is co-funded by Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

DiaPS Presented at DiaEuro 2025 in Bulgaria

The DiaPS – Diabetes and Sport Peer Support project was presented during DiaEuro 2025, Europe’s international football tournament for people living with diabetes, held in Bulgaria.

Bringing together athletes, coaches, healthcare professionals, and representatives of diabetes organisations from across Europe, DiaEuro once again provided an excellent platform to promote the importance of physical activity, peer support, and international collaboration within the diabetes community.

Presenting the DiaPS project

As part of the event programme, Ines Jakopanec delivered a presentation introducing the DiaPS project and its progress to participants from across Europe.

The presentation highlighted the project’s mission to empower people living with Type 1 Diabetes through a digital peer support platform that combines expert-reviewed educational content, practical resources, and a community where users can exchange experiences and support one another.

Participants also learned more about the development of the DiaPS application and its role in helping athletes, parents, coaches, and healthcare professionals navigate the everyday challenges of balancing diabetes and sport.

Reaching the European diabetes sports community

Presenting DiaPS at DiaEuro was particularly significant, as the event brings together exactly the community the project was designed to support. It provided an opportunity to engage directly with athletes living with diabetes, gather valuable feedback, and exchange experiences with participants from different countries.

The discussions confirmed the growing need for accessible digital tools that combine reliable information with peer support, helping people with diabetes feel more confident and connected in their sporting journey.

Strengthening collaboration through sport

Beyond the presentation itself, DiaEuro 2025 offered another opportunity to strengthen relationships with international partners and explore future collaborations aimed at promoting inclusion, active lifestyles, and equal opportunities for people living with diabetes.

By participating in events such as DiaEuro, the DiaPS project continues to expand its reach and contribute to a stronger, more connected European diabetes and sport community.
