DiaPS Promoted at World Sport Day in Zagreb
The DiaPS – Diabetes and Sport Peer Support project was proudly presented during the 33rd World Sport Day, held at the ŠRC Trnje Sports and Recreation Centre in Zagreb. The event brought together sports organisations, recreational clubs, healthcare initiatives, and citizens of all ages to celebrate the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
DiaPS participated in the event at the invitation of Oktal Pharma, one of the event’s sponsors, providing an excellent opportunity to introduce the project to a wider audience and highlight the important connection between diabetes, physical activity, and peer support.
Introducing DiaPS to the public
Throughout the event, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about the DiaPS project, its mission, and the digital platform developed to support people living with Type 1 Diabetes.
Project representatives presented the DiaPS educational materials and distributed the project’s guidebook, giving participants practical information about diabetes management in sport and the importance of staying physically active.
Part of the World Sport Day programme
As one of the activity stations within the event programme, the DiaPS stand welcomed visitors taking part in the day’s activities and prize challenge. This provided an engaging way to introduce the project to families, recreational athletes, and members of the wider community while raising awareness about living an active life with diabetes.
The event demonstrated how collaboration between sports organisations, healthcare partners, and community initiatives can help promote healthier lifestyles and create more inclusive opportunities for everyone.
Promoting active lifestyles through partnerships
Participation in World Sport Day reflects the DiaPS project’s commitment to reaching new audiences beyond the diabetes community. Through partnerships with organisations such as Oktal Pharma and participation in public events, DiaPS continues to spread the message that physical activity should be accessible, enjoyable, and encouraged for people living with diabetes.
