DiaPS showcased at EMCA Connect Autumn 2025 in Istanbul

During the EMCA Connect Autumn 2025 weekend in Istanbul, the DiaPS – Diabetes and Sport Peer Support project was presented as part of the EMCA Projects Poster Walk, highlighting its innovative digital approach to supporting people living with Type 1 Diabetes in sport.

The event brought together multisport organisations and partners from across Europe, providing a valuable opportunity to share ongoing initiatives, exchange ideas, and explore new collaborations within the EMCA network.

A digital solution built with and for the community

DiaPS is a digital application co-created with people living with Type 1 Diabetes, designed to address the real-life challenges of balancing sport and diabetes management.

The platform brings together:

  • A peer-to-peer community where users can share experiences and find practical advice
  • Expert-reviewed educational content on sport and diabetes management
  • Tools and resources tailored for athletes, parents, coaches, and educators

By combining knowledge with lived experience, DiaPS aims to create a supportive and accessible environment for all users.

Empowering people to stay active in sport

The main goal of the DiaPS application is to empower, inform, and connect its users. Through accessible information and community support, the platform helps individuals with diabetes stay active in sport with greater confidence, reduce the risk of dropping out, and build a stronger sense of belonging.

At the same time, DiaPS contributes to creating positive role models and raising awareness about the possibilities of living an active life with diabetes.

Strengthening partnerships across Europe

The presentation in Istanbul provided an excellent opportunity to further promote the project, gather interest, and connect with organisations across the EMCA network. Such events play an important role in building visibility and strengthening collaboration at the European level.

EMCA and TSV Bayer 04 are partners in the project, which is coordinated by HAŠK Mladost.
